Clarity first

Coaching and therapy: two different kinds of care.

There’s a quiet question a lot of people carry before they reach out: is coaching the right fit for me, or am I looking for something else? It’s a thoughtful question, and worth answering honestly.

Coaching and therapy are both valuable, and they’re different. Therapy is a clinical relationship focused on mental health: healing from the past, processing pain, and caring for conditions like anxiety, depression, or trauma with a licensed professional. Coaching is a partnership focused on where you are now and where you want to go. Together we clarify what matters, gently surface the barriers in your way, and build practical steps toward the life you’re reaching for.

Sometimes the two complement each other beautifully, and many people benefit from both at different seasons of life. Your wellbeing comes first, always.

  Coaching Therapy
Focus Goals, growth, clarity, moving forward Healing, mental health, emotional wellbeing
Orientation Present and future Past and present
The work Naming barriers, building skills and action Diagnosing and treating clinical concerns
Led by A trained coach, in partnership with you A licensed mental-health professional
Best for Feeling stuck, stretched thin, wanting change, moving through a transition Processing pain, symptoms, or a clinical concern
If your needs ever fall outside the scope of coaching, I’ll let you know with care, and I can help you consider whether a licensed therapist is the right next step.

A note on scope

Coaching is a forward-looking, action-oriented partnership. It is not therapy, counseling, or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for professional mental-health or medical care. Coaching is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Amany Suleiman is a coach, not a licensed therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, social worker, or medical professional.

If you are experiencing a mental-health concern, please reach out to a licensed healthcare professional. In a crisis, call or text 988 (US), or contact your local emergency services. Coaching is voluntary, and you can step away at any time.
